Hublot Launches Big Bang Unico Teak Italia Independent Limited Chronograph

It has been several years since ItaliaIndependent and GarageItalia founder and artistic director Rapp Elkann and Hublot discussed the creation of a nautical-themed timepiece. On May 31, 2018, Hublot and ItaliaIndependent launched a brand new watch on Capri Island to pay tribute to Lapp Elkann’s passion for the ocean.

The new BigBangUnicoTeakItaliaIndependent Chronograph combines king gold and teak materials. The case and buttons are made of king gold, a proprietary alloy developed by the brand. The case is 45 mm in diameter and has a teak (a precious wood usually used for decking) bezel. The dial is hollowed out and the numbers, hour markers and hands are decorated in orange.

Equipped with UNICOHUB1242 movement, this movement has hours, minutes, small seconds, date display and flyback timing function, and can provide up to 72 hours of power reserve. Through the sapphire crystal case back, you can admire the refined finishing and precision operation of the movement. The entire table is water resistant to 100 meters. Each watch has two straps: one inspired by the world of sailing, made of Kevlar carbon fiber and lined with rubber; the other is entirely made of rubber with orange stripes. This watch uses a patented one-button quick release system, and the two straps can be easily replaced.
